Salisbury Steak

Instructions

1. Prepare the patties

In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into oval-shaped patties.

2. Cook the steaks

Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the patties for about 4–5 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.

3. Make the gravy base

In the same pan, melt butter and add sliced onions. Cook until soft and slightly caramelized. Add mushrooms and cook until tender.

4. Thicken the gravy

Sprinkle flour over the onions and mushrooms, stirring well. Cook for 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.

5. Add liquid

Slowly pour in beef broth while stirring. Add Worcestershire sauce and thyme. Let it simmer until the gravy thickens.

6. Combine and finish

Return the patties to the pan, spoon gravy over them, and simmer for 10 minutes until fully cooked and infused with flavor.

7. Serve

Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or bread. Spoon extra gravy on top for maximum flavor.
